Noviembre pues

Cannot believe that another month has gone! My family back home has had a super busy month and I have been a lot more involved with things here, but I still wanted to share some of what I have been up to. Stay a little connected with home, and the people that are home to me. :)

Duke vs. Clemson (south carolina)!!

Notice that we are sitting on the Clemson side.... Not sure how that happened.

Kaci's birthday dinner! These are some of my program friends Paul, me, Kaci, Kate, and Ben!

Catfish fishing at Jordan Lake!

On a more seasonal note, here is my target from the Turkey Shoot in Nahunta, NC. :)

Handel's Messiah sing-a-long at Duke Chapel with my Duke FHE family.

Ummm, Kaci and I went to Target after class and she slipped away when I was looking at something... I found her again and her cart was packed with Christmas decorations! Oh how I love her!

Orthopedic presentation day at Duke!!! Our assessment class had a special all day class where we had guest lecturers from Duke's Physicians and it was amazing!!! I was the model for the orthopedic knee assessment...

Lastly! Thanksgiving!! This is the back hallway at Durham Regional Emergency room, and I would say that we made good use of the space! Soo much food and we all sat round the little table and ate together! :)

The Regional and I have come a long way. Never though it could happen, but I have met some really great people there and I am getting used to the way things are done. Life is about constant adaptation and change, this has been no different. Sometimes it is even sweeter for the trying. :)

Hope yall are doing well and enjoying the season!

I ended October by going to Duke's All Hallows Eve midnight mass inside the Duke Chapel. The whole thing was lit by each person holding a candle, very cool experience!

North Carolina State Fair

Come one, come all! The North Carolina state fair is fabled for its fried food and good people watching. It certainly proved accurate on both accounts. :) This is my first out of 2 days at the fair, this day with my friend Kristi, she is a Duke law student.

The smorgasbord of deep fried food. And this was only half of the sign! The entire middle of the fair was food vendors. Some of my other favorites were deep fried turkey legs (they were HUGE), deep fried hot dogs and hamburgers, deep fried pie, and really everything else you could imagine!

One of the few petting zoos!

Deep fried Reeses...

I think there is butter in the middle as well...

Fried green tomatoes...

 Funnel cake...

The army jazz band playing some particularly fun 80's hits. These players were actually in the army!

The pig racing, NASCAR style...

Duck and goat racing...

And of course the museum of world oddities. :)

Thank you North Carolina for such a quality time!

Grandfather Mountain

Grandfather Mountain is said to be the most rugged mountain east of the Mississippi. It starts out at Mile High Swinging Bridge. It is named that because the bridge suspends exactly one mile above sea level. :) That peak in the background was the first summit.

It was a bit of a rock scramble and there were cords...

and ladders to assist in the assent.

And a wildly beautiful ridge line!

The scenery from the second peak, on the left, was quite different. It was like an autumn walk through the woods. So beautiful!

Loved the John Muir quotes posted along the trail!

And here you can see Grandfather's profile in the rock.

Fun Trivia: You may recognize a part of the road to Grandfather Mountain in the movie "Forrest Gump" while Tom Hanks was on his run across America. :)
